Studied Design (A) for AS, and Mathematics (A), Archaeology (A) and Physics (B) for A2. Also undertook key skills classes to develop IT and presentational skills.

Work Experience

Sept 07 - Present Game Retail Store: Sales Assistant
 

Job Roles: Customer Services - assisting customers in finding desired products, answering questions on hardware and game contents. Highlighting key offers. Gutting and replenishing the display shelves and handling cash on the tills. Training of new and temporary staff.
Skills gained: Multitasking between stock replenishment and assisting customers. Communication skills between staff members and when conversing with customers.

Jul 06 - Sept 06 Gamelab London: 3D Modeller and Texture artist
 

Job Roles: Working on a BBC Commission for online educational English games for deaf children. I assisted in the 3D elements to the game, including making basic 3D environments and making creative textures for the Avatars.
Skills gained: Experience working in a professional environment. Learned importance of backing up and archiving work. Gained good communication skills when working with other artists and directors to ensure the work was done on time and to the correct standard/style.

Jul 06 - Jan 07 Roundhouse Studios: Games Design Tutor
 

Job Roles: Organising and teaching a group of 12-15 year old students basics of game design using software such as 'Mission Maker' and 'Game Maker'. I undertook 2 courses, one for a full week during the summer holidays and then a Saturday course during term time.
Skills gained: Learned a lot about motivating teenagers and engaging them in the subject. Organisational skills were very important to keep everything on track as well as setting up the course.

Jul 05 - Jan 06 Soundsmusical.com: Admin and Customer Services
 

Job Roles: Manning the telephone, Customer instant messenger and forum to answer customer's inquiries about products and their orders. Printing off new orders daily, contacting suppliers and delivery companies about order status and problems, liaising with the warehouse, stock control and website maintenance.
Skills gained: Communication skills with staff and customers, especially when there is a fault or a problem. Multitasking between phones, email, forum and the warehouse. Keeping track of orders and current problems that need to be solved.
